Her guardian angel was pushed.

Keiron was never meant to be anything other than a hero. Born high above in a place of war and deception, he is Heartborn, a being of purity and goodness in a place where violence and deceit are just around every corner.

His disappearance will spark a war he cannot see, for Keiron has pierced the light of days to save a girl he has never met, for reasons he cannot understand. Livvy Foster is seventeen, brave, and broken. With half a heart, she bears the scars of a lifetime of pain and little hope of survival.

Until Keiron arrives.

In the middle of a brewing war and Livvy’s failing heart, Keiron will risk everything for Livvy, because a Heartborn’s life can only end in one way: Sacrifice.

Fall with Livvy and Keiron as they seek the truth about her heart, and his power, and what it means to love someone who will give their very life to save you.

*I received a free copy of the e-book from the author in exchange for an honest review.*

When I started this book I did not know what to expect and even after finishing it, it is still hard for me to put what I read into words. It was a surprisingly introspective book. Besides the writing style is clear, smooth and very easy to read.

The world-building was confusing and first but then - as soon as I got into it - became very interesting and - I'd say - peculiar. I totally loved the airships and all the different angel houses, annoying and power-hungry Crescent Council included.

Unsurprisingly, I liked Keiron from the first moment. Livy took me instead a while to like, I found her a bit dull first but then she grew on me page after page, in the end she was all right. One thing I liked particularly about her was her strength and will to live. Besides I greatly appreciated her friendship with Dozer, a character that I really found extremely fun to read.

I basically liked every member of the Windhook family except Garrick (sorry not sorry). Okay maybe I didn't like them too much toward the end (for what they did to Cressa...)

One thing I loved was the softness of the romance between Kieron and Livvy, it was never too cheesy or bothersome, nor did it have too much page time (If you get what I mean...)

Sadly, the epilogue left me crestfallen. I liked the final twist toward the end but there were definitely a few things that left me confused (a bit too much...) For example: What did happen to Garrick ( I mean seriously I didn't get if he's alive or not...)?. And most importantly: What the heck did exactly happen to Keiron? (When? How? Why??)
Besides I was very disappointed by how him and Livvy parted ways. I wish they had parted a more meaningful "goodbye"---I don't know, everything was a bit too hazy, with too many things happening "outside the screen" so to speak.

Overall, the book was a very enjoyable reading---you should pick it up and see it for yourself...
